JIFF's Activities
in Pakistan
JIFF's Physiotherapy Center was established on August 18th, 1991 in Peshawar. The pilot aim was to provide physiotherapy and follow-up therapy to those Afghan refugees who were victims of war that had undergone a surgical treatment on abroad under IOM/ARAP and JIFF project since 1988. .
Bibi Hora 8 years arrived at JIFF Physiotherapy Center in Peshawar after her surgical treatment was completed in Japan. JIFF Medical team examining the admitted patients.
After one year of successful activity in Peshawar, due to great demand of Afghan refugees in physical therapy and diagnoses & treatment of other medical problems, JIFF PT decided to expand its activities as JIFF Medical Center. JIFF Medical Center in Peshawar had four main fields: OPD for adults, a Children Clinic, a Physiotherapy Section and a Malnutrition Program.
Subsections of JIFF Medical Center included:
X-ray, Dispensary, Ultrasonography and Laboratory.
In addition to this, we have three training programs: in-service training of physical therapy for staff, General Knowledge Refreshment Course for medical staff and a Female Health Education Program for mother's and women which is provided to them during their waiting time for services at
JIFFMedical Center premises.


ACTIVITIES
JIFF Medical Center activities are as follows:

-Malnutrition Program, for children who suffer from Malnutrition. We distribute milk, biscuit, oil, sugar, feeding bottles and blankets (90 children per day in average)

-Male & Female OPD, for medical patients and screening for physiotherapy work according to the scheduled days. (150 adult per day on average)
Dr. Kazem (Rt.) and Dr. Akbar (Lt.) are examining patients in adult OPD examination room.
-Children clinic examines 400 children daily, as well as screens malnourished children under 5, controls and supervises Female Health Education Program, the Mal-nutrition program and Child labor control programs.
Hundreds of mothers are waiting for examination of their children in front of children clinic. Dr. Kagaya and Dr. Asghar examine the children in the children clinic.

-X-ray department performs simple x-ray imaging. (60 shots per day on average) .
-Dispensary distributes medicine to OPD as well as in-patients. (500 patients per day on average)
-Ultrasonography, performs abdominal, pelvic and small parts Ultrasonography (20 patients per day on average)
-Laboratory performs blood, urine and stool examinations (40 patients per day on average)

-Female health Education Program (FHEP) a supplementary program that utilize the time that patients and mothers of the children are waiting for visit. (500 people per day will listen to the lectures)

-Male, female physiotherapy and electrotherapy rooms provides physiotherapy to patients. (200 patients per day on average)

JIFF Mobile Clinic

JIFF also dispatches its Medical team to examine and treat the patients in Jalozai Camp. JIFF's mobile clinic treats 50 children and adults daily at camp. The team consist of a medical doctor, a pharmacist and a nurse.

JIFF Medical Center had been closed in November 2002, after 11 years of medical services for a big Afghan refugees society in Peshawar.
